I've only played the PS2 version. I haven't seen anyone saying the Wii port sucks, or that drawing with the wiimote is particularly better or worse than drawing with the PS2 controller. So I can't really say either way.
With the PS2 controller I sometimes had trouble nicely drawing circles when I needed to. That might be easier with the wiimote or it might not.
